Frequently asked questions
Do I need Canadian work experience to apply?
Not always. Each job lists its own requirements. Show how your experience from abroad fits the role, and add any Canadian volunteering, courses or certifications.
Can I apply if I am on a work permit?
Yes, if your permit allows the job. An open work permit lets you work for most employers. An employer-specific permit only lets you work for the employer named on it.
Do I need my foreign credentials assessed?
For regulated jobs such as nursing, engineering or teaching, yes: the regulator in your province must recognize your credentials before you can work. For most other jobs, employers decide for themselves.
Does New Comer Hiring help with immigration applications?
No. We are a job board, not an immigration consultant. For immigration advice, use Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or a licensed consultant registered with the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants.
